About this Event
Feeling in the dark about the changes happening in our world has left many people susceptible to the fear deeply encoded in our ancestral and soul memories, allowing for the magnification of the current climate of panic. Times of illness, government control, and the destruction of civilizations easily rise to the surface of our minds and cloud our seeing. But, what is this time we are living right now? The ancients of the Mexica (Aztec) civilization foresaw this time of upheaval and great change as the dawning of the Sixth Sun, a process which began in 2012 and will not be complete for a few more years. Though this is not the only culture to offer a prophecy for our times, and to suggest that there is a path for humanity's enlightened growth, the teachings passed down carefully and only recently shared are proving themselves to be deeply useful insights into what is actually changing on a larger scale and what we might expect in the time of the shift. In this 90 minute presentation, Melusina Gomez, curandera and practitioner of Nahualismo, will lead a talk on understanding the Mexica prophecy about the shift from the fifth to sixth sun, the insights offered from the culture regarding the transition time we are currently in, what they saw as coming next, and ideas about how to harmonize with it. This platica, live on Zoom, will be followed by a guided healing practice for clearing the old winds of our soul karma and ancestral traumas related to fear and times of epidemic. Let's work together to clear the powerful forces of fear operating in our collective unconscious and culture, so that we may ground and meet the dawn with grace. The ancestors sacrificed a lot to preserve the prophecies and teachings, with the intention that they be shared widely at this time. Let us honor their foresight and love by using this knowledge as a pathway through uncertainty. Ometeotl.

About Melusina Gomez - Curandera and Practitioner of Nahualismo, M.F.A., M.A
Melusina is a curandera, ritualist, and artist, whose healing arts offerings combine the principles and practices of Curanderismo and Nahualismo. Melusina has studied and practiced Indigenous healing techniques for 20 years, and has applied these traditional methods to 1:1 healing sessions, workshops, public ritual, and healing groups within mental health facilities for survivors of trauma, abuse, neglect, mental illness and human trafficking. She currently has a private practice within the eleventh house collective in Fairfax California, and is the collective's coordinator.
Curanderismo is a traditional healing art from Mexico, which blends Indigenous wisdom with influences from Europe. Developed by the first Mestizas, born with both lineages, but without acceptance from either, its emphasis is the loving and deep healing of the emotional conditions that exhaust us and keep us from our true path of flourishing. Rather than attaching our issues to our identity through diagnosis, the goal is to move emotions which have become stuck, creating imbalance or illness, learn that which this imbalance is teaching us, and restore the health of the soul, the clarity of the mind, and the vitality of the body. Melusina Gomez has been traditionally trained in the art of Curanderismo by internationally respected Curanderas Estela Roman and Dona Enriqueta Contreras, as well as Master Herbalist Atava Garcia Swiecicki of Ancestral Apothecary.
Nahualismo is the Indigenous dreaming, healing and sorcery tradition of ancient Mexico. The special knowledge of ancient Mexico is that of dreaming, both waking and in lucid sleep, also including the deep healing of the unconscious, where our personal, karmic, and ancestral patterns can help or limit us, as we dream our waking lives into being. These powerful traditions, stemming from the Mexica and Toltec lineages, teach us how to heal, to develop ourselves spiritually, and to co-create or change our fates. Melusina is a dedicated practitioner of these wisdom traditions, with deep gratitude for the opportunity to learn and practice the beauty of ancestral healing and Indigenous mysticism. Melusina's teacher in these traditions is Mexico's sanctioned preserver and teacher of Nahualismo, Ocelocoyotl, Sergio Magana.
