From its history as a card game for the elite, and the alluring image of the fortune teller, Tarot as a system of divination and spiritual inquiry has re-emerged in our era as a form of soul counseling. Providing a structured form of insight into the unconscious and hidden realms of knowledge, Tarot speaks in the imaginal language of dreaming and the Soul. Through the study of symbols passed on through generations, the awakening of intuition and claircognizance, and the deepening of relationship with the divine forces of loving guidance, anyone can learn to interpret the messages of the cards safely, and to effectively decipher their language of story.
This class is offered in 2 parts:
Class 1 on September 21
We will explore the history of Tarot as a divination art, how to choose a deck, setting up sacred space, the Major Arcana, how to frame a question, and some beginning layouts.
Class 2 on September 28
We will look at the meaning of the numbers and suits of the Minor Arcana, full layout options, creating relationship with the unseen, spiritual cleansing and protection, and asking questions for oneself versus for others.
This is the beginning of a series on soul-centered divination, offered by Curandera, ritual artist, and priestess Melusina Gomez.
Participants are encouraged to take both parts for a complete introduction to the art of Tarot.
Each class is $35
Melusina Bio:
*Melusina Gomez, M.A., M.F.A:
Melusina is a curandera, ritualist, writer, and theatre artist, whose healing arts offerings combine the principles and practices of Curanderismo (folk healing art from Mexico, blending Indigenous wisdom with influences from Europe to address trauma and imbalance) and Nahualismo (the dreaming, healing, and sorcery tradition of ancient Mexico). Melusina has studied and practiced Indigenous healing techniques for over 20 years, applying traditional methods to 1:1 healing sessions, workshops, public rituals, and healing groups within mental health facilities for survivors of trauma, abuse, neglect, and human trafficking. She offers full moon rituals, workshops, tarot and oracle readings, and blog articles at the eleventh house, where she is also store manager. Her mission is to reconnect our changing times with ancestral wisdom and healing, lineage reclamation (especially among mixed race peoples), and practices for empowerment and deep healing with the sacred feminine.
Melusina's intuitive readings combine both traditional Tarot and Oracle cards. She weaves a sacred space of nurturing and prayer, connecting clients with the energies of the directional Tezcatlipocas, who rule our new cycles, our shedding and renewal, our unconscious layers, our emotions, and our inner resilience and flowering. We reach up to the cosmic influences that map our soul growth and movement, and down to the Earth that blesses our creations, in the form of The Holy Mother. Hand in hand with these potent essences, we look into what is hidden beneath the struggles of the present moment, and find nuances of guidance that together weave a story with more clarity and support. This is divination, blended with non judgmental consulta, and rooted in aspecting the loving and fierce energies of the Divine Feminine Forces.
